
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Dhaka recently organised "ICCR Scholar's evening" by Aditi Mohsin at the Main Auditorium of National Museum, Shahbagh in the city.
Aditi Mohsin was born in Dhaka, into a family of music connoisseurs. Recognising her keen interest and natural aptitude for music at an early age, she was admitted into the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA). After receiving her diploma in Rabindra Sangeet from BAFA, Aditi continued her music training under the tutelage of Sadi Mohammad, one of the renowned Rabindra Sangeet artistes in the country.
In 1992, Aditi received a scholarship from the Government of India (ICCR Scholarship) to study music at Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. At Visva-Bharati University, she was trained by legendary scholars and performers like Kanika Bandopadhyay and Nilima Sen. At Santiniketan, Aditi topped in both Bachelor's in Music and Master's in Music examinations. She was awarded the ICCR Scholarship in 1992 to pursue Bachelor's of Music and ICCR Scholarship in the year 1996 to pursue Master's of Music from Visva Bharati University. She also received individual training, guidance and mentoring from Smt Swastika Mukhopadhyay of Santiniketon for more than six years to further explore the fascinating world of vocal music.
Aditi Mohsin is a regular performer and play-back singer of Rabindra Sangeet with numerous recordings to her credit. Her first recording was a CD and cassette titled "Amar Mon Cheye Roy" for the Bengal Foundation, Dhaka that was released in 2003. Her second recording titled "Sharado Prate" was released in 2004 in India by Prime Music, Kolkata. Aditi is a regular performer at Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar (Radio), and other private/satellite broadcasting media such as NTV, Tara Bangla, etc. As a play-back singer, she has sung Rabindra Sangeet for different dramas and serials on various television channels in Bangladesh. Since 2000, she has worked as a senior teacher at Chhayanaut, one of the pioneering music schools in our country.
