Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad’s 48th death anniversary today

NARAIL, Sept 4: The 48th death anniversary of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh will be observed at Nur Mohammad Nagar in Chandibarpur union of Narail district on Thursday.
The Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh trust and Narail district administration jointly organised various programmes to mark the death anniversary.
The programmes will begin with placing of floral wreaths at the Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh portrait, Qurankhani, Doa Mahfil, Essay Competition, Art Competition and discussion meeting on the life of Nur Mohammad Sheikh and prize distribution will be held at the Nur Mohammad Sheikh Memorial Museum and Library Auditorium in Nur Mohammad Nagar.
Nur Mohammad was born on February 26, 1936 at Mahiskhola village in Narail Sadar upazila.
He joined the then East Pakistan Rifles (EPR), now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), on February 26, 1959.
Later, he joined the country's Liberation War in 1971. Pakistan army killed him on September 5, 1971 at Goalhati in Jashore.
BGB Jashore region and Sharsha upazila administration will be observed with various programmes to mark the day.    -BSS
