Nurjahan Alim performs in Canada

Noted folk singer Nurjahan Alim and daughter of legendary folk artiste Abdul Alim, has performed at the Bangla Mela in Montreal, Canada. The festival was organised by the Bangladesh-Canada Association, the singer performed at the show on September 2.
Alongside her performance at the festival, Nurjahan will also perform at different musical soirees and festivals in Canada and U.S.
 Nurjahan Alim, a prominent folk singer in Bangladesh. She got her inspiration in music from her father late Abdul Alim. She also learnt music from other renowned ustads like Akhter Sadmani, Nazrul Islam etc. She also got trained in classical music under Ustad Anup Barua in Chhayanaut.
 Nurjahan was champion in 1986 in 'Notun Kuri' broadcast on Bangladesh Television. Her first solo album of songs titled 'Majhi' was released in 2014 and her second solo album 'Jare Chere' - a tribute to Abdul Alim, was released in February, 2017.
 She has received several awards like 'Abbas Uddin Sharok' 'Pen Pulse Club Award', 'Badshah Khalid Award' Progoti Shango Awrad, Abdul Hai Mashreki Gold Medal, Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh Award, Anotora Academy Award, Shamaj Bandhu award from Bangladesh welfare foundation of USA etc.
 She is an enlisted singer in Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. She also regularly performs in different TV Channels of Bangladesh.
