AL factional clash injures 30 in Faridpur

At least 30 people were injured in a factional clash between two groups of Awami League ( AL) in Boalmari upazila of Faridpuron on Monday.

Ashutosh Bhowmik, sub-inspector (SI) of Boalmari Police Station, said the clash took place in Kandakul village in the upazila around 6:00 am.

Locals said Boalmari upazila AL unit leader Md Harun-or-Rashid and supporter Md Akhter Hossain had a long time dispute over establishing supremacy in the area.

Supporters of the two groups equipped with lethal weapons engaged in a clash in the area around 6.00am over the electric connection of Palli Bidyut, leaving 30 people injured.

Of the injured, 16 were admitted to Boalmari Upazila Health Complex and Faridpur Medical Collge Hospital, said the SI.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, he added.
