Cultural heritage of ethnic minorities needs to be protected

RAJSHAHI, May 27: Speakers at a discussion opined that collective efforts of all government and non-government entities concerned can be the vital means of protecting the cultural heritage of the ethnic minority people from further diminishing.
They also observed that all quarters should take the responsibility to protect the cultural heritage of ethnic communities as their heritage and resource are integral part of the society.
The observation came in a discussion meeting followed by a dance competition and cultural function hosted by Rajshahi Divisional Ethnic Minority Cultural Academy (RDEMCA) at its conference hall to mark the second founding anniversary of Rahala Rimil Dance Group (RRDG) on Sunday.
Chaired by RRDG President Sabitry Hembrom, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Deputy Director of Local Government Division Md Salahuddin, Vice-chairman of Paba Upazila Parishad Ashraful Haque, RDEMCA Research Officer Benjamin Tudu and music instructors Manuel Soren and Kabir Ahmed and RRDG General Secretary Proshanta Minj and its Adviser Subhash Chanda Hembrom.
