Additional IGP Rowshan Ara's body brought to Dhaka

The body of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Rowshan Ara Begum, who died in a road accident recently in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, arrived in Dhaka early Thursday.

Carrying her body, a flight of Turkish Airlines landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 5:41am.

Relatives of Rowshan Ara burst into tears seeing her dead body at Dhaka airport. Senior officials of police were also present there.

Later, the body was taken to her residence at capital Dhaka's Hatirjheel area.

Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury, husband of late Rowshan Ara, said her first namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) will be held at Noyatola Jame Mosque in city’s Moghbazar area around 10:00am.

Her second janaza will be held at her father's house at Moghbazar between 10:00 to 11:00am, and the third will take place at Rajarbagh Police Lines after Dhuhr prayer.

Later, she will be laid to rest at the Azimpur graveyard in the city.

Earlier on May 5, a truck collided with the car carrying Rowshan Ara Begum in Kinsa area of DR Congo, leaving her dead.

She served Bangladesh Police as the first ever female superintendent of police in a district. And later the has been promoted the second additional IGP.
