Iti, Tomari Dhaka wins critics’ award in Kazan

Iti, Tomari Dhaka the second only big screen production from country's first Oscar nominated filmmaker, Abu Shahed Emon has won prize at Kazan International Film Festival in Russia. The director of Jalaler Golpo has confirmed that the award was announced at the closing ceremony of the festival on April 30 in Kazan, the capital city of Russian province of Tatarastan. Ahmed Muztaba Jamal, director of Dhaka International Film Festival received the award titled 'Russian Guild of Film Critics Award.' The Kazan International Film Festival started from April 24.
Iti, Tomari Dhaka is the first omnibus project in Bangladesh and incorporates a record eleven young directors telling eleven different stories. Abu Shahed Emon has guided them serving as the creative producer. The film attempts to present unturned pages of thriving city Dhaka in the midst of post-modern traumas for the middle-class.
The top prize of the festival, Grand Prix went to Kyrgyz film 'Song of the Tree', Best Director Award went to Turkish filmmaker Semih Kaplano?lu for his multinational production 'Grain'. Iranian director Yaser Talebi's 'Favourite' won the Best Documentary Award in the festival.  The festival started in 2005.
Iti, Tomari Dhaka is continuing to grab awards abroad. Recently it won 'Best Original Screenplay Award' at Jaipur International Film Festival, India. It has also been screened at Bangalore International Film Festival, Cambodia International Film Festival, Chennai International Film Festival, Indonesia's Jagja International Film Festival. Last year in October it had its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival, South Korea.
