
Hundreds of people on Friday bring out a protest march on Dhaka University campus demanding justice for Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a madrasa student of Feni, was burned to death for protesting sexual assault.
Gaurab-71, Purnima Foundation and Chetona Parishad jointly organized
the protest march titled 'Sexual Abuse and Anti-rape March' from Shahbagh to Central Shaheed Minar.
Protesters threatened that they would march towards the National Parliament if justice is not served within seven days.
They shouted slogans against prime accused Siraj Ud Doula, the principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa.
Earlier in a demonstration in front of the National Museum Pro-Vice-Chancellor (administration) of Dhaka University Professor Dr Muhammad Samad demanded punishment to Nusrat's murderers.
President of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Golam Kuddus said, "Exemplary punishment has to be ensured to stop recurrence of such cruel acts."
"Since 2006 Siraj Ud Doula has been involved in criminal acts. The role of the Officer-In-Charge of Sonagazi Police Station proved that a local organized group encouraged the principal to commit such heinous crimes,"said GTV Editor-In-Chief Syed Ishtiaq Reza. Dhaka University (DU) teacher Robaet Ferdous, Ganajagaran Mancho leader Bappaditya Basu, Chairman of Purnima Foundation Purnima Rani Shil, President of Chetona Parishad Zahid Sohel, General Secretary of DU Rokeya Hall Union Shaila Islam, AGS Falguni Das Tanni and film director Habibul Islam Habib also spoke at the programme.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set afire allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against Siraj Ud Doula for sexually harassing her late last month.
Siraj is now behind bars in connection with the incident. Nusrat lost her battle for life at Dhaka Medical College Hos-pital on the night of April 10.
