Prize giving ceremony of City Bank-Ananda Alo Sahitya Puroshkar for the year 2019 has been held. Prizes were handed over at Channel i Bhavan, Tejgaon in the city. National Professor Anisuzzaman was present as chief guest at the event with Bangla Academy Director General Habibullah Sirajee. Among the awardees Professor Emeritus Serajul Islam Choudhury received the award for his book 'Samay Bahiya Jay' in the category for Essay Writing and Liberation War Write-ups. Major General Md Sarwar shares the prize for his book '1971: Pratirodh Sangram Bijoy' from Priyomukh publication house. Professor Serajul Islam's book has been published by Katha Prakash.
The award was given in six categories while save one all of the categories had at least two litterateurs receive the award. For story-telling Syed Monzoorul Islam got the award for his book 'Kaylatala O Annanna' from Anya Prakash. Shahaduzzaman received award in the same category for the book 'Mamlar Shakkhi Moyna Pakhi' from Prathama.
For poetry Maruful Islam bagged the award with his book 'Pantum' from Anya Prakash alongside Afzal Hossain for his book '19 Nambar Kabita Mokam' from Ananya.
Faruk Moinuddin got his award in the Travelogue and Biography Category with the book 'Sudurer Odur Duar.' He is the only recipient in this category.
For Children's Fiction Mustafiz Shafi got the award for his book 'Bhoot Kalyan Samity' published by Katha Prakash. Mokaram Hossain got the same award for his book 'Ronger Gaach' from Shishuprakash.
As debut authors Mazharul Islam, Faruk Ahmed and Shaira Afrida Oishee got awards. Mazharul's book 'Ghatana Kingba Durghatanar Golpo' and Shaira's book on days like this' are from Journeyman while Faruk's book 'Nishangatar Pakhira' is from Anya Prakash.
At the award giving ceremony president of editorial board of Ananda Alo, Faridur Reza Sagar; Ananda Alo editor Rezanur Rahman and City Bank Managing Director and CEO Mashrur Arefin were present.
