Few singers like Shahnaz has the power to make people cry

Music legend Shahnaz Rahmatullah passed away at Saturday night at her residence in Baridhara in the city. She was laid to rest at Park Mosque Graveyard of Baridhara yesterday. With her sudden death she has left many to grieve for her. Among those who remember her with recognition her husband Major (Retd.) Abul Bashar Rahmatullah. He said that very few singers have the power to make people cry. Shahnaz happens to be one of those singers. Among her other family members at present her daughter Nahid Rahmatullah lives in London while her son AKM Sayef Rahmatullah lives in Canada having completed her MBA from USA. They will attend special prayers arranged for her next Friday.
Lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar has called Shahnaz Rahmatullah the ambassador to represent Bangladesh at the global stage. Another lyricist Shahidullah Farayezi said that every singer has some flop songs but Shahnaz Rahmatullah was free from such weakness. She could sing all types of songs-patriotic, modern, film songs and also songs from different languages with ease. Others from the music industry who have paid tribute to her through honorific words are listed below:
Runa Laila
According to Runa Laila the term 'Legend' means the 'brightest star in the sky.' With the death of Shahnaz Rahmatullah another star in our skies has fallen, Runa Laila thinks. She feels anxious about how many stars like her will continue to fall. She prayed so that the Almighty might keep Shahnaz Rahmatullah in peace.

Veteran musician Syed Abdul Hadi has got quite emotional and dejected considering the demise of Shahnaz Rahmatullah. He thinks that Shahnaz Rahmatullah has left the mortal world with a lot of pains and demands in her heart. Why she had these he will not reveal because now is not the time to talk about these issues. He only thinks that the way legendary singers like her are departing and leaving vacant places in the music world is not getting filled and will never get filled in the future as well.
Fakir Alamgir
Veteran Ganasangeet artiste Fakir Alamgir said that now the last gem of a trio of three gems has got lost. He referred to Shahnaz and her two prolific brothers- musician Anwar Parvez and film actor Zafar Iqbal both of have died. He prayed for the peace of her soul.
Samina Chowdhury
Samina remembers Shahnaz as the singer who she and her elder sister Fahmida grew up listening to. She remembers that the love Shahnaz used to tender for her and her sister continued even in their elder days. She was the idol, guardian of the singing sisters. She used to urge Samina to sing her songs. Now Samina laments that the protection over her head is gone!

Samina's sister Fahmida Nabi is at a loss at the departure of the real greatest legend. She said that she has learnt that Shahnaz passed away shortly after saying her night prayers (Isha Prayers). According to her the Almighty has taken her with honour. She has prayed that Shahnaz's soul might rest in peace in the afterlife.

Kumar Bishwajit
Leaving this mortal world is natural. But according to Kumar Bishwajit the way Shahnaz Rahmatullah has departed all of a sudden is truly painful. She was like towering shade for the musicians. Only those who face it know how it feels when such kind of protection gets lost. He added that he cannot express his sorrows in words.
Kanakchapa
Kanakchapa said that the sudden demise of Shahnaz Rahmatullah is truly a great shock for her. She was not ready for this. She asserted that what many claim about Shahnaz Rahmatullah is true that singers like her (Kanakchapa) and others from the classical age learnt music and still continue to practice music by following in her footsteps 'directly.' Now that Shahnaz is gone she feels very helpless and lonely. She was like a mother, a guardian for the singers.
