BARISHAL, Feb 28: Upazila Parishad Polls in nine upazilas out of ten will be held on March 24 in the district. Only election at Mehendiganj Upazila will be held later.
Seventy candidates have submitted nomination papers for chairman, male vice-chairman and female vice-chairman posts.
Of them, 21 candidates submitted nomination papers for chairman, 31 for male vice-chairman and 18 for female vice-chairman posts.
In Agailjhara Upazila, the elected candidates unopposed are A Roich Serniabat as chairman, Rafiqul Islam Talukder as male vice-chairman, Malina Rani Roy as female vice-chairman.
In Gaurnadi Upazila, the elected candidates unopposed are Manirun Nahar Mery as chairman, Alhaj M Nuruzzaman Farhad Munshi as male vice-chairman, Zinia Afroj Helen as female vice- chairman.
In Bakerganj Upazila, the elected candidates unopposed are Shamsul Alam Chunnu as chairman and Farzana Bintay Wahab as female vice-chairman.

BOGURA, Feb 28: Three candidates backed by AL were elected chairman unopposed on the last day of withdrawal of nomination in the district on Wednesday.
The elected chairmen unopposed are Mojibur Rahman Mojnu from Sherpur Upazila, Minhaduzzaman Liton from Sonatola Upazila and Sirajul Islam Khan Raju from Adamdighi Upazila.
In nine upazilas out of 12, BNP rebel candidates also took part.
Saiful Islam, BNP president of the district said organisational actions will be taken against those who will contest in the polls refuting party's decision.

MANIKGANJ, Feb 28: Twenty-six candidates have submitted their nomination papers on Tuesday for chairman, 55 for male vice-chairman and 36 for female vice-chairman posts to contest at seven upazilas in the district.
In Sadar Upazila, the candidates for chairman post are Israfil Hossain backed by AL, Ataur Rahman, BNP leader and current chairman as lone candidate, and Akbar Ali from Zaker Party.
In the upazila, eight candidates have submitted their nomination papers for male vice-chairman and five for female vice-chairman posts.
In Ghior Upazila, the candidates for chairman post are Habibur Rahman backed by AL, Khandakar Liakat Hossain, BNP leader and current chairman, Afzal Hossain Khan Jokey from JASAD, Shahjahan Kabir from Zaker Party, and Abdul Alim Khan Monowar, Firoz Alam Babu and Benajir Ahmed as lone candidates.

In Daulatpur Upazila, the candidates for chairman post are Nurul Islam Raja backed by AL, Tozammel Haque Toza, current chairman and BNP joint secretary, Abdul Kader, former chairman and Aminur Rahman.
In the upazila, four candidates have submitted their nomination paper for male vice-chairman and four for female vice-chairman posts.
In Shibalaya Upazila, the candidates for chairman post are Rezanur Rahman Ranu backed by AL, former chairman Abdur Rahim Khan as lone candidate.
In the upazila, six candidates have submitted their nomination papers for male vice-chairman and five for female vice-chairman posts.
In Saturia Upazila, the candidates for chairman post are Abdul Majid backed by AL, and current chairman Basir Uddin Thandu as lone candidate.
In the upazila, seven candidates have submitted their nomination papers for male vice-chairman and eight for female vice-chairman posts.
In Singair Upazila, the candidates for chairman post are Shahidur Rahman backed by AL, AKM Sayedur Rahman from Zaker Party, and former chairman Mushfiqur Rahman Hannan, Lutfur Rahman and Obaydul Rahman as lone candidates. In the upazila, seven candidates have submitted their nomination papers for male vice-chairman and three for female vice-chairman posts.
In Harirampur Upazila, the candidates for chairman post are Dewan Saidur Rahman backed by AL, Selim Molla and Ali Haider as lone candidates.
In the upazila, 11 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for male vice-chairman and seven for female vice-chairman posts.

NOAKHALI, Feb 28: On the second phase of Upazila Parishad Polls, the candidates elected unopposed are Mahbub Morshed Liton in chairman, Obayed Ullah Biplob in male vice-chairman and Momtaj Begum in female vice-chairman posts in Hatia Upazila.
Mahbub Morshed and Momtaj Begum got elected for consecutive two times.
Returning Officer and Election Commission Officer Md Rabiul Hossain of the district unofficially declared them as chairman and male and female vice-chairmen on Wednesday.
Md Rabiul Hossain said that there were no other candidates in the post since the others have withdrawn their nomination papers, so the contesting three candidates got elected unopposed.
