Local journalists have organized a human chain at Gafargaon in Mymensingh, demanding release of five journalists of the daily Jugantor and the withdrawal of the cases.
The human chain was held in front of the local press club on the college road at municipal town on Monday.
A case was filed with Dohar Police Station under the controversial Digital Security Act following a report in the newspaper on “the luxurious house of Nawabganj Police Station OC Mostafa Kamal”.
The accused journalists are Jugantor’s Keraniganj correspondent Abu Zafar, Nawabganj correspondent Azharul Islam, Ashulia correspondent Mehedi Hasan Mithu, Dhamrai correspondent Shamim Khan and Gopalganj correspondent SM Humayun Kabir.
Journalist Fakir A Matin, Vice-Principal Shafiqul Qadir, Ataur Rahman Mintoo, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Nazmul Haq Biplob, Tafazzal Hossain, Shafiul Alam Maruf, Rukun Uddin Sabur, Sarowar Faraji, Sahadat Hossain, Wahidur Rahman, Tania Akter were Speech in human chain.
