Suspected thief held in Kabiraht

Local people caught a man over allegation of stealing cows in Kabirhat upazila of Noakhali on Monday night and handed him over to police.

The accused is Sadat Hossain, 28, a resident in Sonaimuri upazila.

Local people challenged a group of people while sitting in a pick-up van at Abdullah Miah market around 2.00am, said witnesses.

Five to six people fled the scene except Sadat who was on the driving seat. Later local people handed him over to a police patrol team.

Police recovered a pipe gun, a knife, an axe and rope from the van.

Mirza Mohammad Hasan, officer-in-charge of Kabirhat Police Station, confirmed the matter.
