The delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh organized a solo musical performance of the noted Nazrul Geeti singer, Shusmita Anis, on January 20 in Dhaka. The event was part of EU's policy, adopted in 2016, to encourage cultural cooperation between the EU and its partner countries. Through this event, the EU delegation to Bangladesh also paid respect to the work of the National Poet of Bangladesh. Singer Shusmita Anis, who learned music from legendary singer, the late Firoza Begum, presented a wide array of famous pieces of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam for a selected audience comprising local politicians, diplomats stationed in Bangladesh as well as music connoisseurs. The audience highly appreciated the performance of Anis. The European Union deems that intercultural dialogue can build and promote understanding within and between societies. It also helps to promote a global order based on peace, the rule of law, freedom of expression, mutual understanding and respect for fundamental values.
