Noted director, editor, Saidul Anam Tutul has suffered a coronary attack. The veteran artiste started feeling unwell at 2am in the night of December 15. As he felt pain in his chest, within two hours, he was quickly taken to the Labaid Specialized Hospital, Dhanmondi in the capital. Doctors suggested that he should be kept in Coronary Care Unit or CCU. Doctors said that he had suffered a heart attack. He is also having breathing-problems.
Mobashera Khanam, wife of Saidul Anam Tutul has said that the film activist suffered a heart attack a few years ago. Now he is kept in CCU. She has asked everyone to pray for him.
Saidul Anam Tutul first shined as film editor. The first film with Government's Grant Surja Dighal Bari released in 1979 was edited by him. Along with Best Film, Best Director and other awards in seven categories in the National Film Awards the film also ensured Best Editing Award for Saidul Anam Tutul. He then went on to successfully edit a number of other popular films like-Ghuddi (1980), Dahan (1986), Dipu Number Two (1996) and Dukhai (1997). He took up film direction for the first time in 2003 with the film Adhiyar. Released in 2003 the film brought National Film Award in the Best Story category for Selim Al Deen.
The director is currently working on a project that has received the government's grant this year. The film titled 'Kalbela' is based on a 2001 book published by Ain O Salish Kendra. The book focuses on narrative stories of women during the Liberation War and in its aftermath.
Saidul Anam Tutul is the founding general secretary of Directors' Guild and also its lifetime member. Along with a big screen production he has also directed a number of small screen dramas.
