Rehana Jolly, is known as the loving mother in Dhallywood. She has acted as mother for many actors including Alamgir, Razzak, Ilias Kanchan, Omar Sani, Salman Shah, Shakib Khan, Bappi, Manna, Moushumi, Shabnur and Popy. She made her debut while she was still in class nine acting as a mother to actor Alamgir. This starting brought her a National Film Award. Unfortunately now that she is stricken with cancer and spinal malfunctioning nobody is there to look out for her. None has even made a phone call to inquire after her health, though many know that she has been suffering for a year now. The actress has expressed these laments from her present treatment center, her younger sister Laizu's residence in the city.
Her cancer is in the first stage, doctors have informed. The cancer was detected a year ago. The seventh spine of her vertebrae is also broken causing her problems to move her arms and legs. She has been recommended full bed rest. Her four sisters have been supporting her since the diagnosis, spending around forty thousand each month. But now the costs have increased to fifty thousand a month, making it unbearable for the four caring sisters. For the rising expenses she stopped going to hospital three months ago. However doctors have asserted that as her cancer is in the first stage, if proper treatment is provided, by the grace of Almighty she may get healed within a year.
Rehana Jolly first appeared in the film "Maa O Chele" directed by Kamal Ahmed. It brought her a National Film Award as Best Supporting Actress. In her nearly four decade long career she has appeared in almost four hundred films. She is currently looking up to the Prime Minister to support her treatment abroad.
