Young man imprisoned for vote forgery

A young man was sent to jail on charge of attempting fake vote casting in the by-election of ward number 2 of Naomala union of Bauphal upazila under Patuakhali district.

The fraud was Rahat Hossain, 18, a resident of Botkajal village of Naomala union.

According to the sources, Rahat went to Botkajal Board Government Primary School center for casting vote impersonating another voter at 10am. Police sub-inspector Zakir Hossain caught him red handed.

After he was produced in a mobile court, Executive Magistrate and Bauphal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Pijus Chandra Dey handed him 15 days’ imprisonment.
