AL sweeps councillor posts in SCC

SYLHET, Jul 31: Fifteen councillor candidates of ruling Awami League (AL) won unofficially in Sylhet City Corporation elections while eight from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), two from Jammat and one independent councillor won.
Source said, of them eighteen councillors returned while eight are fresher. Twenty six councillors out of twenty seven were declared elected unofficially on Monday night at Abul Maal Abdul Muhith Complex in the city after voting from 8:00am to 4:00pm without break ended. Returning Officer Alimuzzaman declared the results of twenty six councillors and the result of Ward No 27 was postponed as one center of the Ward was postponed.
From AL, Bikram Kar Samrat won in Ward No 2 while Abul Kalam Azad Layek in Ward No 3, Aftab Hossain Khan in Ward No 7, Eliasur  Rahman in Ward No 8, Mokhlisur Rahman in Ward No 9, Tarek Uddin in Ward No 10, Rafiqul Islam Jhalak in Ward No 11, Santanu Datta Santu in Ward No 13, Nazrul Islam Mumin in Ward No 14, Chayful Amin Barek in Ward No 15, Rashed Ahmed in Ward No 17, Azadur Rahman Azad in Ward No 20, Saleh Ahmed Selim in Ward No 22, Mostaq Ahmed in Ward No 23 and Towfiq Box in Ward No 26.
From BNP, Syed Towfiqul Hadi won in Ward No 1 while Rezaul Hasan Koyes Lodi in Ward No 4, Forhad Chowdhury in Ward No 6, Sikandar Ali in Ward No 12, ABM Jillur Rahman in Ward No 18, Sawkat Amin Towhid in Ward No 19, Abdul Rakib Tuhin in Ward No 21 and Takbir Islam Pintu in Ward No 25.
Abdul Muhit Jabed and Saleh Ahmed Ripon won in Ward No 16 and 24 respectively from Jammat and independent candidate Rejwan Ahmed won in Ward No 5.
