Mumbai, July 29: Mumbai's trainer Kavita Pandya will become another member of the Bangladesh women's team support staff. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) already have signed Anju Jain (Head Coach), Devika Palshikar (Asst. coach) and Anuja Dalvi (physiotherapist).
Speaking exclusively, Kavita Pandya says, "working with a team always brings out your best as a trainer. A team is made up of all different types of people with different fitness capacities, and strength capabilities. So we as coaches have to design a program which would fulfill all there weaknesses. With experience of already been worked with the Indian women's side, and other domestic state teams, Bangladesh will be yet another chapter in my career that I'm looking forward. I'm excited to be part of the team, which in the recent time has done exceptionally well in the sport".
Elaborating on training the cricketers, she says, "Cricket is a skill, mental, plus physical game. With so many different aspects attached to the game, as a S & C (Strength and Conditioning coach) I always try and cover all the areas of the game. It is not only important for the players, to be physically fit, but they require the mental strength too. I personally, enjoy the game and play it too, so I do understand the requirements of the players. Each player's requirement is different altering the plans even a little bit to ensure their maximum output, is what we S & C's constantly look for."
Women getting stronger
"Men are naturally stronger in built and structure than women, but with the recent exposure of strength and conditioning programs, the women are getting stronger too. There is a famous saying "nothing is impossible." If required a women cricketer can be as strong as a male cricket, with the right program they won't be far behind. Virat Kohli, has made us S & C's popular in today's world. The importance he has showed to fitness, as a player is a change that he has bought about at least in the asian sub-continent area. Today we see many male and women cricketers increasingly working towards the betterment of their physical well being. Being fit, automatically changes and improves alot of the little aspects of the players game", she added.
