In an unlikely turn of events country's movie theatres have beefed up again. Last time theatres made headlines with the launch of Hollywood film Avengers: Infinity War. In that occasion however only three prime cinema halls got the chance to reap the harvest. But this time it seems the entire country has been reinvigorated with film releases and they are none other than our own home-products. Yes, Poramon-2, Superhero, Komola Rocket have made headlines for quite a couple of days. All the films have been released in Eid and now running in their second only week. Now the gross income of some of these has been revealed.
According to Jaaz Multimedia the gross income of Poramon-2 in just five cinema halls in around the capital city has moved towards one crore taka. The tally currently stands at ninety-two lac taka, even though Star Cineplex went on holiday from June 24.
At Blockbuster Cinemas the film has grabbed the highest cash scoring thirty-five lac, a spokesperson for the theatre has confirmed the news to this correspondent.
On the other hand Super Hero as of June 23 had amassed four-and-a-half-lac from Madhumita Cinema Hall alone. It might be added that Super Hero got censor board's approval only on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. On that backdrop, the film's success is huge. According to, Iftekhar Uddin Nowshad, owner of the hall the highest income for a film in his hall has until now been five lac taka. In that regard makers of Superhero certainly deserve plaudits from him. The theatre house of Motijheel would however take down the film on June 29 to pave way for Poramon-2. Poramon-2 has only been released in twenty-two cinema halls by now. The tally is expected to double-up in the third week.
Poramon-2 is based on a simple storyline of love and separation as a result of rural dogmas. Building up its climax pretty much after the style of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the film sees an aspiring actor Sujon killed by the elder-brother of his beloved. But he evades his death by tearing down the hanging loop when everyone has left, only to find that in grief his childhood admirer Pori has committed suicide. The film does not end there but moves on towards a resolution.
Komola Rocket a highly social film has also earned praises from critics and viewers alike. The film casts Tauquir Ahmed, Mosharraf Karim, Joyraj etc. As for the cast of Superhero and Poramon-2 they are led by Shakib Khan as opposed to debutant Siam. Siam has certainly showed his prowess in his first big screen appearance in Poramon-2 to challenge Shakib Khan. He might be pull of yet another success in the coming Eid-ul-Adha. At least one film starring him is all set to clash with not one but two films from Shakib Khan in the upcoming Eid.
