Angelo Mathews returning home to welcome a happy arrival in the family

Mumbai, June 12: Former Sri Lankan captain and member of the team touring West Indies, Angelo Mathews is not the first and will not be the last cricketer to return home to be with his pregnant wife.  
The 31-year-old all-rounder Mathews is returning to Colombo from Windies tour on Thursday morning to be with his wife Heshani Silva, who is expecting the second child "any time soon".
There have been instances of several cricketers who have not shied away from the paternity leave as official reason to leave the tour midway.
However, the SLC media release only stated "personal reason" for his early arrival.  
Angelo Mathews became proud father of the first child (son) February last year. Interestingly, the family had kept his name also as Angelo. .
There was media speculation that he would name his son after his favorite cricketer Jacques (Kallis).
Mathews may perhaps be aware that another South African cricketer AB de Villers has the same name in three generations.  
His wife, Heshanie Silva, also a badminton player, is believed to have moved to her parents home in Colombo.
It is not known whether the couple had sex determination tests for the second child but the family is expecting the second child as daughter.
The couple had the blessings of Mahinda Rajpeksha, the then president who signed as eye witness on their marriage on July 18, 2013.
