Indian Foreign Secretary in Dhaka

Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale arrived in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon on a two-day visit.
During his visit he will attend a meeting with Foreign Secretary Mohammad Shahidul Haque at state guesthouse Meghna in the city.
The whole range of
    bilateral issues is expected to come up with a special focus on Rohingya issue at the meeting.
Gokhale will witness signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MoU): Rajshahi City Corporation Development Project, Computerized (digitalized) Programme of 905 Schools and Development Project of Rangamati Community Complex" worth about TK64cr.
"During the meeting, the foreign secretaries will discuss the progress of agreed bilateral issues, which were signed between Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Norendra Modi," a senior official said.
The Indian government is set to ink three development projects worth TK 64cr to establish a community complex at Chattogram Hill Tracts, computer and language labs in 509 primary schools across the country and reconstruct-repairs different roads under Rangpur City Corporation, a senior official of the Foreign Ministry said.
Foreign Ministry sources said the two sides might also discuss possibilities of a meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2018 (CHOGM) to be held in London and Windsor on April 16-20.
They are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest, officials said.
The Indian Foreign Secretary will attend an event on Bangladesh-India relations tomorrow today at a city hotel.
Prime Minister's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi will attend the programme as the chief guest.
ERD Secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam and Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla will ink the instruments at the State Guest House Today.
Official said India will provide Tk25cr to establishment computer and language labs in 509 primary schools in Bangladesh under which computers, necessary accessories and furniture would be provided to those schools.
Apart from this, Tk13.92cr Indian grant will be utilized to set up Chattagram Hill Tracts Community Complex project in Rangamati having an institute and an auditorium.
Besides, the Indian government will provide Tk25cr for the rehabilitation and improvement of different roads under Rangpur City Corporation project to improve the road infrastructures in Rangpur city.
