PM shocked at death of  Kakon Bibi

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of gallantry award-recipient freedom fighter Kakon Bibi.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister recalled with profound respect the outstanding contributions of the valiant freedom fighter in the great Liberation War in 1971.
Sheikh Hasina said Kakon Bibi joined the Liberation War keeping her three-day-old daughter away. "She took part in the frontal war and also worked as a spy during the war," the PM said.
She said the nation and the country will ever-remember the unique contributions of Kakon Bibi, who was tortured by the Pakistani occupation forces.
Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Freedom fighter Bir Protik Kakon Bibi, who passed away at a hospital on Wednesday night, was laid to rest at her village home Jhirargaon in Doarabazar upazila in Sunamganj district on Thursday afternoon.
She was buried with state honour following a namaz-e-janaza at Laxmipur School ground at 3pm.
The body of Kakon Bibi was taken to his village home from MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital in the morning.
Bir Protik Kakon Bibi, said to be over 100 years old, breathed her last at the hospital around 11:05pm on Wednesday.    -UNB
