Pirojpur Municipality gets 100pc electricity

PIROJPUR, Mar 3: Pirojpur Municipality has come under 100 per cent electrification.
A total of 23,805 connections were given to all households, small industries, trading houses, haat-bazaar, academic institutions and tea-stalls in seven unions of the municipality. But, it has not been officially declared yet, said sources at Rural Electricity Board (REB).
Bhandaria and Kawkhali upazilas will come under 100 per cent electrification by March, Indurkani Upazila by June, Nazirpur by September and Nesarabad by December of 2018. So, the district will come under 100 per cent electrification within 2018.
General Manager (GM) of REB Engineer Shankar Kumar Kar said, "Transmission lines in Sadar are 583km, in Nazirpur 505km, in Nesarabad 711km, in Indurkani 266km, in Kawkhali 256km, in Bhandaria 606km and in Mathbaria 1,020km."
REB sources said the electrification in 56 upazilas across the country is waiting for official inauguration.  
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to inaugurate the projects though teleconference soon.
