Rangamati: Headmen and karbaris of three hill districts and Nagorik Samaj have denounced the attack on the Chakma circle Queen and some women volunteers by the members of law enforcing agencies during her visit to two raped Marma sisters at Rangamati Sadar Hospital.
The condemnation came from a press conference held at Chakma Rajbari here on Monday.
Chakma circle Chief Barrister Debashish Roy, Queen Yan Yan, Nagorik Samaj Rangamati unit president Goutam Dewan, women leaders Nirupa Dewan and Santona Chakma, Prof Mongsanu Chowdhury and representatives from three hill districts' Headman Associations and karbaris were present.
Narrating the attack that launched on her on February 15, Queen Yan Yan told journalists that she had to spent in the waters of Kaptai Lake for over half-an-hour to save her life.
King Debashish demanded immediate arrest of and exemplary punishment to the attackers.
Earlier, Pahari Chhatra Parishad, Hill Women federation, Rangamati Nagarik Committee, Headman Network Association and other organisation formed a two-hour human chain in Rajbari area demanding investigation into the attack.
