Gulshan and her paintings

Painting is a silent poetry. For Gulshan Hossain, a national and international award winning artist, painting is also a faith to express her love for nature and people. She is a high profile in Bangladesh, but also thriving in the international art world.   
She has created her own parameters to perform as an artist both at home and abroad. The artist's recent solo art exhibition was held in Kuwait in November organized by the Kuwait Art Council. She participated in an International Painting Symposium in Normandy, France in 2010. She was among the 33 artists selected for the symposium where her work was sold at the highest auction.
"My paintings are largely influenced by the early 20th century art-movement of post-impressionism merged with the ideologies expressed in the post modernism movement," says Gulshan Hossain adding, "However, I do maintain a unique style which makes my work immediately recognizable wherever you are viewing it throughout the world."  This is really special when works themselves say about their creators.  
Gulshan did her Masters in Fine Arts (Drawing & Painting) under Dr Prof Beth Harland at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, UK in 2008.  But her career in the art world started years before that in the nineties.
Gulshan has the natural power to explore everything around her and to hold on to any opportunity and maximize it. Her romance with colours empowered her to explore newer ways of thinking and making meaning in this world.
Ideas are her key domain and she is fascinated with printmaking. She likes to draw on a wide range of techniques and themes to produce her prints and often incorporate photography, drawing and painting into the print process. Nature, society and history are the key areas of her interests and she has developed a style of abstraction by exploring variations in different materials and techniques.  History touches her as she lost hear dearest relatives in 1971 Liberation War. Sensitivity makes her sensible to think about doing works on Tazreen fire, an incident that changed the Readymade Garment Industry, Bangladesh's flagship export sector.    
In all her works, be it nature, or anything social or historic, Gulshan Hossain's work seeks to identify connections between people and environment and between existence and its sustenance. She tries to reflect on the symbiotic value of interactivity.
