Kool-BSPA Sports Award ceremony on Jan 6

To honour and recognise the top sports personalities of 2017, BSPA Sports Award will be given in 14 categories in a colourful award ceremony on January 6 in Dhaka.
Sports journalists' oldest organisation in the country Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) is arranging the event as usual.
The name of the top sports persons of the year will be named on the very award day.
Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, shooter Arnab Sharar Ladif and footballer Jafar Iqubal were shortlisted for the best sportsperson award 2017. One of them will be picked by the BSPA jury board on the awarding ceremony.
BSPA is also initiating a new award, grassroot sports personality award and this year it will be given to coach Mofujul Haque who was behind the Kolshindur football revolution.
Besides, cricketer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib, Mahmudullah and footballer Jafar were shortlisted for the popular choice award. The fans had chosen these names by online voting on the BSPA website which will continue till January 4, 2018. After that the name will be declared.
For this year, Shakib Al Hasan was named the best cricketer while Jafar best footballer, Enamul Hossain Razib best chess player, Sonam Sultana Soma best table tennis player, Arnab best shooter, Jonayna Ahmed best swimmer, Jahir Raihan best uprising athlete, M Salahuddin best cricket coach, Mahfuza Akter Kiron best organiser and mobile operator Robi best sponsor.
BFF Senior Vice President Abdus Salam Murshedy and BFF Vice-President Badal Roy will be given special honour in the awarding ceremony.
Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) Sports Award is the earliest sports award in the country that was initiated in 1968. Once BSPA Sports Award was honoured as the national sports award before initiation of the national sports award.
