
Ekushey Padak-winning Nrityaguru Rahiza Khanam Jhunu died at a city hospital on Sunday morning. She was 75.
Jhunu, also the vice president of BNP's cultural wing Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS), breathed her last at Labaid Hospital at about 7:30am.
Earlier, she was admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of the hospital on November 14 with diabetes, kidney and heart ailments. Later, she was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) following deterioration of her condition.
BNP chairperson's media wing Shayrul Kabir Khan said BNP chief Khaleda Zia and its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condoled the death.
The noted dance personality had served as the principal of Bulbul Academy for Fine Arts (BAFA) for a long time.
Wife of former MP late Amanullah Chowdhury, Rahija Khanam Jhunu left behind two sons and two daughters to mourn her death.
She will be buried at her family graveyard at Bhaluka in Mymensingh on Monday.
