The veteran actress and Bangladesh National Film Award winner has been gracing us with her incredible performances for many decades now. Today, we got up close with this one of a kind pride of our industry.

Roles that attract you:
The roles which allow me to do something in terms of acting, the ones I feel I can adapt to, and are suitable for me, those attract me. The characters which do not go with me, do not attract me. I look at myself in the mirror. I know my limitations. I realize how much carrying capacity I have. I can measure myself so well that I understand what characters I can perfectly adapt and showcase. Only those roles attract me.
Is this what you prioritize while selecting a script?
Of course! There are times when I myself told the director that the character I was offered requires me to have huge preparation. We often don't have much time as productions depend on budget and we don't have much budget for a drama.
I cannot just decide to prepare myself and do a single drama for a whole month and not do any other production. If I was to do that I would have to move away from my ground of professionalism, in terms of our industry. Thus, at times I say no to characters because it won't be possible for me to prepare for them.
Leisure activities:
I have a family to look after. I look after it with heart. Besides work, I prioritize my family the most. I do the works of the family at my leisure. Apart from that, I love to listen to music. I read poetry. I have a great passion for reading books. Now, I might not get much time for these, still these are things I love to do. Then, watching television and reading various magazines are also what I like to do besides the daily work of the family.
Your best feature:
I think that would be my self-confidence and honesty. I am extremely honest. I always stand my ground. This is my greatest strength. Moreover, to be honest, I am very confident. I know what I am capable of doing and how much carrying capacity I have. So, these are my greatest strength and nothing else.
Your weakness:
I am very careless about myself. As an acting artist, there are some things I should take care of which I don't. For instance, I should pay heed to my fitness. I should maintain a proper diet and stay fit. However, I can't seem to do these things. I love to eat. This could be a weakness of mine (laughs).
What scares you the most?
I am not afraid of anything unworldly or supernatural. However, I am scared of being misunderstood. I always try to be totally honest from where I stand. So, if anyone misunderstands me, that hurts me a lot. I want to happily go along with everyone as long as I breathe in this world. When I go by, people greet me, I love that. If someday they turn their backs on me, I won't be able to stand it. That's what scares me the most.
What makes you happy?
I am a very joyous person. Little things make me happy, rather than large attainments. Say, a beautiful view of the sky makes me happy or I am reading a great novel and walking side by side with a character, the joy of that character makes me happy or eating a delicious food cooked extremely well by someone makes me happy etc.
