MEHERPUR, Dec 30: Police arrested a listed criminal along with arms and ammunition from Gopalnagar math road in Gangni upazila on Thursday midnight.
The arrested person is identified as Monir Hossain, son of Osman Mollah of village Koshba in Gangni upazila, also a listed criminal.
Sub-Inspector of Gangni police station Sankar Kumar Ghosh said, acting on secret information that Monir and his associates were taking preparation to commit a robbery on the Gangni-Hatboalia road, a team of police conducted a drive at the area and arrested Monir. But his associates managed to flee the scene.
Later, police recovered a shutter gun, two rounds of bullet, two crude bombs and two locally-made sharp weapons from the spot.
A case was lodged with police in this connection and the arrested person was produced before the court. Monir is wanted in several cases including robbery, police added.
