Fake FFs to face music: Farooq

Liberation War Affairs Adviser Farooq-e Azam, Bir Pratik, on Sunday said that necessary actions will be taken against those who have received certificate as a freedom fighters without participating in the War of Liberation in 1971.

While talking to media at his Secretariat office, Farooq-e Azam, also adviser of the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, gave the indication.

Earlier, Acting Australian High Commissioner to Dhaka Nardia Simpson met the adviser in a curtsey call.

Farooq-e Azam said, "During the last quota movement, the freedom fighters children quota was the main issue. A list is being prepared about the service-holders who have got job in government and semi-government institutions and authorities in freedom fighters children quota. We will inform you about the matter after finalization of the list."

"The matter will be examined whether the freedom fighters children quota was followed legally, those who have got job in this quota are really children of freedom fighters," he said, adding, "Work is on the matter. There are around 3,700 cases and writ petitions pending regarding the matter. Those cases and writs will be addressed."

He said, "There is an institution in the middle of Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and becoming a freedom fighter by enrolling and receiving a certificate. It is Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka). The Jamuka was finalizing the matter as to who will be a freedom fighter. The Ministry was just implementing the Jamuka decision. The legal aspect of the matter is being scrutinised."
