The launch service has been shut down on the Daulatdia-Paturia route to avoid any accidents due to the high water level of the Padma river caused by bad weather.

The launch service has been suspended since 11:00am on Saturday.

Traffic sub-inspector Shimul Islam, a police officer of Daulatdia Launch Ghat, said, "The river is raging and creating big waves due to bad weather. Launch movement is risky in this situation. So, it has been stopped since yesterday."

However, Ferry services are normal on the Paturia-Daulatdia route. Eight ferries are currently operating, although the number of  passengers and vehicles are lower than usual, said Salauddin Ahmed, Manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia ferry terminal.
