A Dhaka court has placed Safi Muddaser Khan Joty, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, on a four-day remand for interrogation in an attempt to murder case.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate M Saiful Islam passed the order after investigation officer Abu Taher Mia, also the sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station, produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer, said an assistant sub-inspector working in the court.
Police arrested Joty from the Uttara area of Dhaka early Saturday.
On September 1, a Dhaka court issued a travel ban on 10 people, including Asaduzzaman Khan, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan and son Joty.
On September 11, one Rabiul Sunny, filed a case against 11 people including Sheikh Hasina, Joty and others with Ashulia Police Station for attempt to kill him.
According to the case statement, the complainant got shot around 4:00pm when he took part in the quota reform protests in front of the Baipail Central Jame Masjid at Ashulia in Dhaka on August 4.
