The Met Office on Friday advised the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist local cautionary Signal No 3 as it predicted that squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The Met Office predicted this in a special weather bulletin issued by Weatherman Md Shaheenul Islam on Friday.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay were advised to take shelter and remain in shelter till further notice.

According to the weather bulletin, the well-marked low over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression over the same area at noon on Friday (September 13) about 160 kilometers southwest of Chattogram Port, 105 kilometers southwest of Cox's Bazar Port, 250 kilometers southeast of Mongla Port and 160 kilometers southeast of Payra Port.
