A local Krishak Dal leader has been suspended from his position for demanding Tk 2 lakh from a Swechasebak League leader in exchange for removing his name from a murder case in Laxmipur.
The expelled Krishak Dal leader is Josim Chowdhury, the member secretary of Bamni union Krishak Dal in Raipur upazila in the district.
The suspend news was confirmed through a press release signed by Zakir Hossain, joint secretary of Raipur upazila Krishak Dal, on Friday afternoon.
Earlier, on Wednesday ( September 11), Josim was showcaused by the party following the circulation of a viral audio recording. In the recording, Josim allegedly demanded TK 2 lakh from Swechasebak League leader Liton, the agriculture secretary of the district Swechasebak League, to give him TK 2 lakh for removing Liton's name from an arms and murder case.
But, Josim could not give any proper explanation to the party.
The press release stated that Josim Chowdhury was expelled from his position for violating the party's central instructions.
Josim Chowdhury, said, "I did not do anything wrong . The audio was edited by miscreants. I have responded to the show cause and informed the party leaders of my innocence."
Swechasebak League leader Liton said, " Josim demanded TK 2 lakh from me under the pretext of removing my name from a case.”
Kawsar Molla, convener of the Krishak Dal in the upazila, said, " Josim was showcaused after the audio clip was reviewed, but he was suspended because he failed to provide any satisfactory answer."
