Ten importers have received import permits (IPs) to import 12,000 metric tonnes of potato through Hili land port in Dinajpur district.

Yusuf Ali, Sub Assistant Quarantine Officer at Hili Land Port, confirmed the matter on Friday (September 13) morning.
The landport official said 10 businessmen have received the IPs to keep the potato prices within the purchasing power of people in the country's market.

Earlier, the importers applied for IPs. Now, the import of potatoes from India would be started soon completing all the relevant processes. The importers would be able to import potatoes within the next several days.

Hili Land Port's potato importers said 10 businessmen of the port have received IPs to import potatoes. However, it takes some time to open L/Cs. Price in the country's market will fall if the potatoes are imported from India.
