Cox's Bazar district has recorded a total of 401 mm of rainfall in last 24 hours due to the influence of monsoon, marking the highest single-day rainfall of the season.
The rainfall was recorded from 9 AM on Thursday to 9 AM on Friday, confirmed by Assistant Meteorologist Mohammad Abdul Hannan from Cox's Bazar Meteorological Office. He also said that the heavy rains could continue for another two days.
Additionally, river levels in the Chattogram Division are expected to rise rapidly over the next two days, potentially flooding low-lying areas in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Khagrachari, Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, and Laxmipur districts.
Chattogram Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (FFWC) issued a river forecast on Friday, noting that while water levels in the Muhuri, Feni, and Gomati rivers are receding, water levels in the Halda, Sangu, and Matamuhuri rivers are rising. The center also warned of potential flash floods in Chattogram due to heavy rains upstream.

Sardar Uday Raihan, Executive Engineer of FFWC, added that river levels in Barishal and Khulna Divisions remain stable, though a well-marked low-pressure system over the northeastern Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy rainfall to coastal areas in the next two days. This could lead to rising water levels in rivers across Barishal and Khulna divisions.
The Meteorological office has also warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chattogram region over the next two days.
