A group of Dhaka University (DU) students on Thursday formed a human chain on the campus demanding resignation of all current Syndicate members and dissolution of the Syndicate.
They called for formation of a new student-friendly Syndicate body.
Following the protest, they submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor's office, addressing the Vice Chancellor with their demands.
The agitating students held the protest programme at the base of Raju Sculpture in the afternoon.
Current Syndicate members are associates of the fallen fascist Awami League government, said the students.
They urged the university authorities to form a Syndicate body consisting of student-friendly teachers before the beginning of the academic activities.
Islamic Studies student Shahed Imam said, "Even though authoritarian Sheikh Hasina has left, her allies are still occupying the DU Syndicate. On behalf of the general students of the university, we want to say that if this Syndicate is not dissolved immediately, we will launch a more rigorous movement."
"We saw how this Syndicate decided to evict us from the halls on July 17 during our movement. We want to return to a proper academic environment by dissolving this fascist-affiliated Syndicate and establishing a student-friendly one," demanded International Relations student Mohammad Imran.
