Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam has said that the memorial meeting will be held after finalising a list of martyrs killed during the students-people movement.
A new date will be announced later on, he told reporters at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon.
Nahid said the pre-announced memorial meeting in remembrance of the martyrs will not be held on September 14 next. The memorial meeting will be after finalising a full-fledged list of the martyrs who were killed in the mass uprising.
He also said memorial meeting will be held based on the list prepared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
"Since preparing the list is ongoing, the memorial meeting will not be held on September 14 (Saturday).
The health ministry has sent a list of 728 martyrs, with 20,263 injured people, he said. Families are being contacted finding out their addresses, he added.
According to unofficial sources, there is a list of 800 martyrs which is being scrutinised. The deputy commissioners were also directed to prepare lists. "We expect to receive final lists by Sunday next. Then we will take a decision on memorial meeting."
