Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has expressed the hope that the existing power supply situation will improve within the next three weeks.
He stated it while a delegation of Forum for Energy Reporters Bangladesh led by its chairman Shamim Jahangir called on the adviser at the conference room of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources at the secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday (September 11).
Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan said technical problems have appeared at Barapukuria Coal-Fired Power Plant which are being repaired quickly. We are communicating with Adani Group and steps are being taken to import gas as early as possible. "So, the existing electricity generation and supply situation will improve within the next three weeks."
The Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said the differences between the present government and other governments are that the present government did not come to power through any forged election. Rather, this government came to power through the bloodshed and sacrifices of many students and people.
Fouzul Kabir Khan said he took many steps after taking over the responsibility. He suspended Special Act of 2010 and cancel Section 34Ka of the BRC Act, reduced the prices of fuel oils, removed the secretaries from the company chairman posts, broke the looting structures in power and energy sectors, formulated specific policies and guidelines to stop transfers and appointments etc.
He also laid emphasis on participation of all in open tenders for the works in power and energy sectors.
