Dengue: Zero death, 465 patients hospitalised in a day

No fresh death due to dengue was reported in the country in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

Bangladesh saw the year's highest single-day dengue deaths on Tuesday as at least five patients died with the mosquito-borne disease. With these deaths, the total number of dengue fatalities this year has risen to 102.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 465 more people with the viral fever were admitted in different hospitals during the period.

Of the new patients, 83 were admitted in hospital under Dhaka North City Corporation while 94 were hospitalized in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Some 1,746 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.

A total of 17, 284 dengue cases and 102 deaths have been reported since January 1, 2024.

Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.
