Narayanganj's former MP Shamim Osman's nephew Azmeri Osman's driver and associate Jamshed Sheikh has been placed on a five-day remand for questioning in much-talked about Tanveer Muhammad Tawki murder case.
Producing before the Narayanganj's senior judicial magistrate Kawsar Alam's court on Wednesday afternoon, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 pleaded to place 36-year-old Jamshed Sheikh on a seven-day remand. After holding the hearing, the court placed him on a five-day remand.
Earlier, Jamshed was arrested from his house at Mirpur area in the capital early Wednesday morning.
RAB-11 Battalion Commander Lt Col Tanveer Mahmud Pasha said Jamshed was arrested at about 4:45am on Wednesday from Mirpur area. He had direct connection with Twaki murder.
With Jamshed, four accused have been arrested in Twaki murder case over the last four days.

Earlier on September 8, RAB-11 arrested Shafayet Hossain Shipon from Chashara area in Narayanganj and Kajal Howlader from Dhanmondi area in Dhaka. On September 9, Mamun Mia was arrested from Kalir Bazar area in the city. Then a senior judicial magistrate court in Narayanganj placed the three accused on a six-day remand. They are now under remand in RAB-11 custody.
RAB-11 said all the arrested accused are close to Osman family. Apart from Azmeri Osman, their names were on the RAB-11's investigation list.
Azmeri Osman is the son of former Narayanganj 5 (City-Bandar) MP late Nasim Osman and nephew of former MP Shamim Osman. Though the name of Azmeri Osman was surfaced in a confessional statement under Section 164 some 11 years ago for his alleged involvement in Twaki murder, he was not arrested. Azmeri Osman has roamed with his associates in broad-daylight in Narayanganj city.
Earlier in connection with Twaki murder, Azmeri Osman's associates Yusuf Hossain Liton, Sultan Shawkat alias Bhromor, Tayeb Uddin Jacky and Rifat Hossain Shimanto were arrested. Among them, Yusuf Hossain and Sultan Shawkat gave confessional statements to court confessing their crimes under Section 164. These five accused have been absconding upon receiving bail from court, said plaintiff's lawyer Pradip Ghosh.
Seventeen-year-old Twaki went missing from in front of his house at Shayesta Kha Road in Narayanganj city on March 6, 2013. His father Rafiur Rabbi filed a general diary with Sadar Police Station on the same day and sent a letter to RAB-11 as well.
Twaki's dead body was found in the Kumudini canal of the Shitalakkhya River two days later. His father filed a case against unnamed accused who were angry with him for his social and cultural activities.
