Two commanders of Myanmar separatist group of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) were killed and one injured in a clash at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar on Wednesday morning over establishing the supremacy in the camp.
The deceased were Imam Hossain, 37, son of Abul Kalam from Block M25 of Camp 20, and Rahmat Ullah, 25, son of Goni Mia from Camp 4, Block B6, Mohammad Abdullah, 31, son of Hamid Hossain from Camp 20, Block M29, was injured in the attack.
Mohammad Iqbal, additional deputy inspector general of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) - 14, said that ARSA commanders Imam and Rahmat were staying beside Markaz Mosque in Block M25 of Camp 20. Around 20-30 men from Camp 18 went there and fired indiscriminately and left the spot immediately
Imam and Rahmat died on the spot. Residents rescued the injured and took him to a nearby hospital.
The APBn official said there are cases including murder, abduction, and extortion, had been filed against the two deceased. He said they suspected that the ARSA men might have killed over establishing supremacy within the Rohingya camp.
The police later recovered the bodies and those sent to the Cox's Bazar district hospital morgue for autopsy.
