The interim government has decided to hold a memorial meeting in remembrance of the martyrs who were killed during the July-August period of student- people's mass uprising.
The meeting will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Saturday (September 14).
"Maximum Tk 5 crore will be spent for holding the memorial meeting," said Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed on Tuesday (September 10).
He said a proposal for allocation of Tk 5 crore for holding the memorial meeting was given approval at a meeting of the Advisory Council on Government Purchase Committee held on Tuesday.
Following the meeting, Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed told newsmen that some expenses would require to organise the memorial meeting.
He said members of the families of martyred and students involved in the movement are likely to take part in the meeting.
Besides, foreign guests would also be invited at the meeting, he said adding that the two advisers of the Advisory Council -- Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud -- would decide who will be invited at the meeting.
Earlier on Monday (September 9), Posts, Telecommunication and ICT Adviser Md Nahid Islam said, "The government will honour the martyrs of the mass uprising of students and people on September 14. Apart from giving highest honour to the martyred families, students will be used as volunteers."
Nahid Islam further said, "Bangla Blockade, Complete Shutdown and Long March to Dhaka must have to be mentioned, because the words worked as tonic during the mass uprising. We have to highlight the memorial meeting in such a manner so that it creates a vibe of the July Mass Movement."
