A youth was killed after being hit a truck at Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday.
The accident took place around 2.30 PM at Town Noapara area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Tanju Sheikh, 18, son of Iqbal Sheikh, hailed from Gopalganj Sadar upazila. He worked as a helper of his father's truck.
According to Fakirhat Fire Service and Civil Defence sources, the victim's father Iqbal stopped their truck in a CNG filling station to refill fuel in the afternoon when a speeding Khulna-bound truck rammed their truck from behind, leaving Tanju dead on the spot.
On information, fire service personnel recovered the body from the spot and handed it over to police, said the sources.
Mollahat Highway Police Station sub-inspector Sumon Rahman confirmed the information, adding that they have seized the truck while fleeing from the scene.
However, the truck driver managed to flee the scene, added the police official.
