Ready-made garment factory workers protests across Gazipur's Sadar, Tongi and Sreepur upazilas, forced the authorities of 25 factories to shut production on Tuesday.

Workers from various factories took to the streets around 9 AM on Tuesday, blocking highways and vandalizing property to voice their demands.
The protests began on Tuesday morning, with workers from MTarnet Group Limited in Tongi rallying for 13 specific demands. The unrest quickly spread to other factories, including Pinaki Group, Dress Man, and Noman Group.

Despite an initial agreement between factory management and workers, further protests erupted demanding the resignation of several HR officials.

Simultaneously, workers from Meghna Group's High Fashion Factory in Shreepur staged a strike with 14 demands, which escalated to highway blockades and violence against nearby factories.

Confirming the matter, Gazipur Industrial Police-2 Superintendent Sarwar Alam confirmed that holidays were declared at the affected factories to restore order.

The situation began to stabilize by early afternoon, with police collaborating with Army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to maintain law and order, added the police official.
