A total of 40 readymade garments (RMG) factories were closed in Dhaka’s Ashulia and adjacent areas amid the ongoing unrest situations on Tuesday .
Besides, workers from nearly 10 factories have been striking since in the morning.
No unwanted incidents have been reported from the area, said Md Sarwar Alam, superintendent of Ashulia Industrial Police-1.
Other workers had arrived at various factories in Savar, Ashulia, and Dhaka's Dhamrai upazilas at the designated times.
According to data from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), there are 1,294 garment factories in Savar, Ashulia, Dhamrai, and Gazipur.
On Monday, 90 factories in the Ashulia industrial zone were closed due to disagreements between workers and owners over various demands.
In response to workers' demands, a meeting was held at the BGMEA building on Monday with workers, owners, and law enforcement agencies.
Following the meeting, it was announced that several demands had been accepted and all factories in the industrial zone would reopen on Tuesday.
Additional security personnel have been deployed and surveillance has been increased to maintain order in the area.
