In the face of workers' protest, 79 factories in Savar's Ashulia were closed on Monday.

But there is no reports of violence in the industrial area.

While visiting in Ashulia's Jirabo, Nishchintapur, Narsinghapur and some other areas till11AM, it was found that the authorities declared general holiday at 79 factories as the employees are observing work abstention.
Md Sarwar Alam, Superintendent of Industrial Police Unit-1, said on Sunday morning, the workers went to their respective workplaces but did not work and the management did not come to the factories. In this situation, the factories declared holiday.
Vandalism, attack and loot incidents took place at some factories on Sunday, he added.

Meanwhile, labour leaders believe they do not have much representation in the talks that are taking place between BGMEA and stakeholders.

"This is the reason why the problem has persisted. Labour leaders have little control over the ongoing unrest too," they said.
