BNP politics hinges on knowing pulse of new generation, says Khosru

BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said on Sunday, "We extended full support to the interim government to uproot defeated fascists from Bangladesh." 

Speaking at a discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity hosted by the Amar Bangla (AB) Party he said, "Sheikh Hasina robbed the   people's rights. It is our responsibility is to keep our country free from the fascists.  The people will decide which way Bangladesh will go in future."

Khasru said, "In order to fulfill the expectations of the youth, we need to create a level playing field in political, economic and social arenas for the  people. Those who do not understand the aspirations of the young generation will not have a place in  politics."

He said, "Approximately 65 per cent of the country's population is young. In last 15 years no young people could neither participate in politics nor cast their votes."

Khosru said, "We urge the interim government to give priority to the people's aspirations to resolve the country's problems."
He said, "After Sheikh Hasina fled in new Bangladesh people can think freely."

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, the convener of the Nagorik Oikya said, "After the fall of the fascist Shekh Hasina government many people took to the streets to realize their demands. During the fascist rule the people could not do this." 

He called upon the  people to support the interim government.  

Prof Dilara Chowdhury said, "Interim government are yet to activate police in all the police stations. But there is no alternative to restoring the rule of law." 

Chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon Zonayed Saki said, one month is not enough to evaluate a government, but this government must understand the unique contribution of the students and the people who sacrificed their lives for ending fascist rule." 

"This government must ensure that the perpetrators of the massacres are brought to justice," said Saki.
