Following a last-minute goal in the second match, the Bhutan national football team held the Bangladesh side back in a 1-1 tie in the two-match FIFA international friendly series on Sunday at the Changlimithang Football Stadium in Bhutanese capital Thimphu.

The hosts were three points down before the match, having fallen 0-1 to Bangladesh in their opening match. While the boys in red and green were ready for a landslide victory, the hosts were not sitting back.

They studied Bangladeshi players' movements and implemented counter-measures. They marked key players of the opponents all the time while searching for the perfect opportunity to score. Their game plan worked perfectly.

In the 90th minute, Bhutan defender Tenzing Dorji headed on a cross and substitute striker Wangchuk Kinga placed the ball home.

Despite several attempts from both sides, none could score in the barren first half of the match.

Bangladesh came very close to taking a lead in the 10th second of the second half when a corner was given to them. Bangladesh skipper Sohel Rana took the shot but it went far and his compatriots could not do anything.

However, luck was not in favour of Bangladesh as well. Striker Rakib Hossain, one of the important players of the Bangladesh squad, was dangerously tackled near the danger zone while attempting to convert a cross in the first match.

The coach had to replace him soon due to injury. This young striker could not be in the best XI for the injury. It was already known that Shahriar Emon was to play in his place.

But, there was another change in the squad on Sunday. Coach Javier Fernandez played defender Isa Faisal instead of Bishwanath Ghosh.
